Remote Desktop Software

By admin 17. April 2012

The technology behind remote desktop software allows applications to be displayed and used on different places locally while being run and setup remotely on a server. In short, this software can be regarded as a ‘remote control’ of computers connecting it to other devices through another network or the Internet. This further allows desktops to be taken over and controlled by outside administration.

Just when broadband internet connections became widely available and increasingly demanded across the world, the need and desire for remote desktop technology also arose. People find it fun and sometimes necessity to control over any computer in the world as long as they were both connected with this technology.

Windows invented remote desktop protocol in 1999-2000 and, starting with Windows XP, every Windows version has included remote desktop protocol. The need for remote desktop software arose with the transition from in-person services to long-distance, often outsourced services.

Today, the usage of remote desktop software is no more limited. It is not only used by tech professionals, but is also used by the average computer user for sharing files, by business people for working on documents outside to office, and by educational institutes to allow communication between students across the world.

As broadband internet access becomes even more readily available across the world, and as individuals become more dependent upon computer communications, remote desktop software will likely play an even larger role in the world, and open up endless opportunities for communication, education, efficiency, and productivity.

Online Database Management

By admin 4. April 2012

An online database is a very convenient source of collecting data in this age of information. This system holds valuable information that can be accessed from anywhere around the world. This technology has made it very simple for people to come together from different parts of the world and work together. With the access to information at the push of a button, many businesses have reported increased productivity and profit. Online database management has allowed people to work from their office, home, field office, hotel rooms and even when they are on move. In short, data is on your fingertips and there is no barrier to access the information you require to enhance your productivity towards the work.

Many professionals carrying laptops and Smartphones can access an online database regardless of their location and ease. This is what is literally meant by ‘work from anywhere in the world.’ In most cases a server and an online host is required for online database management systems to work appropriately. This is a cheap service and doesn’t require a lot of investment to start with. However, if you are using an online database, then the security of the system is a great concern. Valuable information must be secured in order to ensure that confidential information does not get passed into the wrong hands.

Every business looking for a system that is flawless and does not accept the discontinuation of work in any case will definitely look out for this system. Online database management systems today provide businesses with valuable information that is secure at the click of a mouse.

HMI Software

By admin 3. April 2012

SCADA software (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) and HMI software (Human Machine Interface) are considered much the same as there have been innumerable developments in automation products. At first, the difference was very evident. HMI software were created as dedicated electronics that had the ability of communication with other dedicated electronics while SCADA software were computer-based applications that were able to create a link between windows-based applications in the share of data with control systems.

However, this system was improved with time and it was quite clear how HMI also gives somewhat the same functionality as SCADA software i.e. at a fraction of cost and based on Windows system.

What makes a good SCADA or HMI? There are factors that make SCADA and HMI more effective and usable. When creating any operator interface, the end user should always be considered with any good system.

Simplify your design – don’t use spinning graphics and animations as they detract from the basic information.

Color association is important – use one simple color for complete navigation throughout the project but avoid red and green amber as they should be used for status indications only.

SCADA software does not only belong to engineers. The operator functions should always take president.

Use common face plates for devices and extended information – this can provide a lot of useful information but always apply the above design philosophies when creating them.

Stick to one language, probably English. Always create messages in full length.
