What is Scada Software?

By Amanda 21. March 2012

SCADA stands for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition. This system is basically used for collecting data and information from a variety of sensors installed at remote locations or at the factory. In order to get it stored after further process, the whole collected data is sent to the central or common computer. This term is used to control and symbolize management solutions in various large and small scale industries such as power sector, production units, environmental control and most importantly water management.

SCADA includes controllers, software and the hardware such as sensors, networks and signal transmitters. These sensors are used to collect data from the origin and send to the central system. The central system has the Remote Terminal Unit (also known as RTU’s) working like its brain. RTU's are programmed to a particular set of logics and then they process the data according to that.

As far as human interference is concerned, SCADA has the Human Machine Interface (HMI) as well. This is where the complete data that has been processed can be viewed by the human. If there are any changes required, those changes can be made by the end user through the use of programmable logic controllers.

SCADA software systems are extremely useful for large scare industries such as nuclear plants as well as small scale ones, such as weather management. These systems are widely available in the market and can be modified according to the requirements at a very affordable cost.

Why it is Essential to Use Scada Software

By admin 19. March 2012

In today’s business environment, data monitoring and collecting systems like SCADA software are becoming more relevant day by day. SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) is a multi purpose system that is used by different businesses. The entire system basically comprises of a well planned interconnected computers network. There are many remote terminal units that are responsible to collect data from the field and send it to the central station master, via communication network system that is in place.

It is of great significance that SCADA software systems are used by competent staff that are experienced and well trained on using this system. However, there are times when companies do not really consider a meaningful role of this system in their organization. But in reality, the smooth running of this system simplifies many complexities that the business is facing. For example, having proper communication links is not enough. It is important for the control devices and transducers to work in perfect coordination with the rest of the system.

Well planned data monitoring systems form the lifeline of industries these days. It is important that businesses also take care of training their staff on SCADA software for it will help in maximizing profits and the overall smooth running of the business.

Scada Software and Waste Water Management Software

Scada software which is a computer system that helps monitor industrial infrastructure in many industries, along with waste water management software  is widely used within Intellisys. Many industries use Intellisys’ software products. Some of those industries include; healthcare, mining, oil and gas, and transportation. The healthcare industry, namely hospitals, uses scada software for automated data collection. You are also able to integrate energy management performance reports. Another industry that uses scada software is within mining. Among the many features, you are able to develop a fully integrated facility data management system for your mining operation using the IPMC suite and track and trend production operations and efficiency. Because scada software manages such important industries, it is important that customer service is always on hand to help with any issues or concerns that may arise. Therefore, the software provides many services to its clients for fast and easy consultations.

Another form of software that along with scada that helps is wastewater software. This works essentially like it sounds; monitoring the amount of wastes – whether it be fecal matter or chemicals- that go into our water resources to keep quality at acceptable levels. Wastewater management software also includes ensuring the proper method of disposal of wastewater. This serves as a vital role in maintaining the safety of environment and public health.

Nowadays, everything is mostly computerized. Very rarely would you find anything that is done by paper and pen or by hand. The digital world has clearly taken affect on nearly everything we do. Scada software is a reliable because it controls computer systems that monitor industrial infrastructures. The software is widely used within Intellisys. Many industries use Intellisys’ software products. Some of those industries include; healthcare, mining, oil and gas, and transportation.
